Härmä and Faller Spatial Decomposition

چکیده
Techniques where a stereo or a multichannel signal is decomposed into spatial source-labeled time-frequency slots by level, time-difference, and coherence metrics have become popular in recent years. Good examples are binaural cue coding and up/downmixing techniques. In the article, we will provide an overview and discuss parallel approaches in the field of array processing and blind source separation. Typically, timefrequency slots are formed from subband representations of signals. However, it is also possible to produce a similar spatial decomposition for a parametric representation (sinusoids, transients, and noise) of a stereo or multichannel audio signal. Advantages and disadvantages of the two approaches for audio coding applications are discussed in this article. AES 116TH CONVENTION, BERLIN, GERMANY, 2004 MAY 8–11

Sampling Rate Impact on the Performance of a Head-Related Impulse Response Decomposition Method
In order to achieve highly accurate 3D audio spatialization, an intended listener must undergo measurements in a specialized instrumentation system to obtain “individual” Head-Related Impulse Responses (HRIRs). Our goal is to create a customizable sound spatialization system that would not require complex individual measurements. Our approach is based on the reliable decomposition of measured H...
متن کاملTime and Frequency Decomposition of Head-Related Impulse Responses for the Development of Customizable Spatial Audio Models
This paper introduces a new approach to the decomposition of measured Head-Related Impulse Responses (HRIRs) based on simultaneous analysis in the time and frequency domains. This approach is computationally less demanding and faster than previous systematic approaches proposed for this purpose. Currently, HRIRs are the most usual representation of Head-Related Transfer Functions (HRTFs), which...
متن کاملThe spatial spillover effect of technical efficiency and its influencing factors for China’s mariculture — based on the partial differential decomposition of a spatial durbin model in the coastal provinces of China
Using mariculture data from China’s nine coastal provinces from 2003 to 2015, this paper first evaluates the technical efficiency through data envelopment analysis (DEA). Then, this paper analyses the spatial spillover effect of technical efficiency and its influencing factors with a spatial panel Durbin model (SDM). The results indicate that there are obvious regional differences in the techni...
متن کاملDecomposition and Modeling of Head-Related Impulse Responses for Customized Spatial Audio
In order to achieve full binaural sound, audio signals must be synthesized using specialized digital filters characterized by their so-called Head-Related Impulse Responses (HRIRs). They represent the modification to sound due to the listener’s torso, shoulders, head and pinnae, or outer ears. Conventional methods of measuring individual HRIRs require the use of expensive and cumbersome equipme...
متن کاملAccelerated Method for the Reduced-Parameter Modeling of Head-Related Transfer Functions for Customizable Spatial Audio
Many spatial audio (“3D sound”) systems are based on the use of Head-Related Transfer Functions (HRTFs). Since the measurement of these HRTFs for each prospective listener is impractical in many applications, developers frequently use “generic” HRTFs (e.g., from a mannequin), sacrificing the superior spatialization that could be provided by “individual” HRTFs. This paper presents an improved me...
